Bridge Dinner at the La Jolla Recreation Center

La Jolla Cove Bridge Club members,

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous year in 2017. On Monday, January 30th I will be hosting a Bridge Dinner at the La Jolla Recreation Center (see details below).

If you are free, I hope you will join us. If the event is a success, they would like to have a bridge dinner on a regular basis.

What: Bridge Dinner (Catered by O's American Kitchen)

Where: La Jolla Recreation Center (615 Prospect Street)*

Time: Bridge 5:00-7:00/Dinner – 7:15

Cost: $10

*The Bridge Dinner will be at the La Jolla Recreation Center – Not the La Jolla Community Center)

I will be giving a brief lesson before the start of play. The topic of this lesson will be the Stayman Convention.

The game will be scored using Chicago scoring with changes of opponents after every four hands.

Players can sign up as a team or individually. If you sign up without a partner, one will be assigned to you.

Due to space limitations, the game will be limited to the first 40 players to sign up. I would encourage you to sign up early.

Parking Update (map below)

The Club will reimburse you $7 when you pay to park for bridge. The only nearby garage that we know has $7 parking is at 1299 Prospect Place at the corner of Cave St. The entrance is the first driveway on the right side of Cave and has a $7 all day sign. After you park, the shortest route is to walk to the right on Prospect and use the painted crosswalk on the left to get to Coast Blvd. Then walk down Coast to the Club. This is a steep hill. When you get to the Club, let whoever is taking bridge money know that you have paid for parking and you will receive $7.

If you want to pay to park somewhere else, you also will be reimbursed $7 which will cover at least some of your parking cost. If you park at 1200 Prospect (where we used to have the $5 rate), you will no longer be able to walk through the La Jolla Athletic Club to get to the Bridge Club.
